Call of Duty Rec League Power Rankings: Top 5 After Week 4 Matches

It’s been a while hasn’t it? It really does feel like it has been a while since the last Call of Duty Rec League match. Since the last one, we’ve seen a variety of things going down in the community from players outraged at Activision, to daily debates been had about the state of Call of Duty. It’s pretty interesting to me to say the least.

Anyway, that’s not what we’re here for today. It’s finally time to release my Week 4 Power Rankings for the Call of Duty Rec League! I’m going to be changing a few things however. For this week, map percentage will start playing a much more serious factor in determining certain ranks. That doesn’t mean that a team with a lower map percentage will definitely be moving down, but I will be using it more as a case by case basis. With that said, there will be a decent amount of movement this week.

I have always appreciated the feedback on every single one of my Power Rankings so far. Last week, I sent out a tweet asking what I could do to improve the power rankings in any way. I’ve taken your feedback into consideration and I will be adding a few new things to hopefully make it a bit more interesting!

Alright, let’s do this.

Bronze Premade Power Rankings: Top 5

5. Denver Surrender, 3–1 (Leech, Misty, Skaroh, Epe6yc, COWBOY, KaSh)

(Last Week: #2)

Denver was primed to have a solid finish to the season. I honestly thought they would finish the season undefeated. However, a tough loss to Maui Chums has slowed them down a bit.

Nothing in particular with Denver is overly concerning. They’ve won their first 3 matches with relative ease before suffering their first loss of the season. What went wrong? From what I see, it seems like most of their early matches were against teams that have been struggling all season long. That’s not me trying to diss them or anyone else, but I am curious to see how they are able to hang when playoffs role around. Hopefully their loss to Maui is a bit of a wake up call because they might need it sooner than later.

Given the nature of the rest of their schedule, it’s tough to see where exactly Denver will finish on the standings. They could easily win out or have a couple more losses. With that said, they shouldn’t have too much of an issue against a struggling Chicago Hunted squad.

4. Maui Chums, 3–1 (ToPLiFeGooN22, Glitch, Razor, Muted, King, B-rocc)

(Last Week: Unranked)

After briefly being in the power rankings and then bouncing out the very next week, Maui has returned to the top 5 after an impressive win against a strong Denver Surrender team.

Maui Chums has had quite an interesting season. Their only loss came from Paris Letdowns who have struggled in their own way, but Maui has bounced back with a solid win last week. As such, they will likely begin showing the rest of Bronze Premade why their win was not a fluke and that they are legitimate title contenders. They certainly have the brains to do it as well. TopLifeGoon is showing up as a superb leader, while Glitch and Muted have both been outstanding so far this season, the latter of which I think will be insanely good for seasons to come.

Unfortunately for Maui, the real test starts here. Their next match is against Seattle Sloths who have yet to drop a map all season long. This will certainly be a match to keep an eye on, and I really do think Maui Chums can give Seattle a run for their money.

3. Dallas Flat Tires, 4–0 (Ozonnee, Behmer, PCake, Weast, cbehm218, JuanBon)

(Last Week: #4)

This one was close. I really debated for a long time which team belongs in the third spot. They played my team last week so I got to see for myself how good this Dallas squad is!

Anyway, I mentioned last week how Dallas seemed like they had the easiest schedule so far in the season. After defeating New York Subpar, the matches are about to get a lot tougher. With that said, Dallas is looking strong and they are certainly no fluke. You just don’t get to 4–0 on accident. Ozonnee has led his team perfectly and Weast has come out of almost nowhere to carry whenever needed. It’s a stacked roster with very little holes. Now, let’s see how far they can go.

Dallas are legitimate title contenders this season regardless of how they finish. I see them going far into the playoffs and continuing their success where they could ultimately get that chip.

2. Florida Muted Tears, 4–0 (Grimm, gianca027, Moyer43, NicWilde, Orbit, gicl)

(Last Week: #3)

Remember last time I did power rankings when I said Florida Muted Tears were going into the playoffs with an underdog mentality? Well, that’s no longer the case. They’re easy title favorites.

I have to admit I had my doubts on Florida going into Week 4 matches. They looked like a solid, formidable team with little flaws. Personally I saw their upcoming match against Toronto Falters as a real test game for them to come out and show their firepower. Not only did they prevail, but they dominated. Winning 3–0 against another top tier team will easily shrug off any questions they may have had before. Florida is legit. They’re not going anywhere, and the rest of Bronze Premade needs to take note.

Florida does not have the easiest of schedules for the rest of the seasons. They could be looking at running through the standings and finishing with a perfect 7–0, but with how Bronze has been looking this season anything could happen. Florida should be confident in prevailing though.

  1. Seattle Sloths, 4–0 (MaurerPower, JT, Hoopthereitis, SBG DoC, Born2Run)

(Last Week: #1)

Again, no surprise here. Seattle Sloths remain the best team in Bronze Premade. With a perfect map percentage and dominating every game they’ve played so far, there’s no end in sight for them.

It continues to amaze me to see how much Seattle has improved from Cold War to Vanguard without any serious roster changes. They’re scary, they’re unstoppable, and they’re frightening. There are no obvious weaknesses I can tell from them. All of Seattle just plays together perfectly, and unless a miracle happens for another Bronze Premade team, Seattle will be the heaviest of favorites to take the title.

With all of that said, it’s too difficult to tell if they will finish the season with a perfect map percentage. Their match next week against Maui Chums is shaping up to be interesting with how Maui has been playing recently. Even if they do drop a couple maps between now and the end of the season, I doubt they will really care that much.

Bronze Premade Match of the Week: Cleveland Misfires vs Paris Letdown

Both Cleveland and Paris are going to be fighting for that final playoff spot in Pool B. Cleveland right now has the majority of tie breakers needed to squeeze into their just ahead of Paris. However, if Paris does manage to defeat Cleveland this week, things get a lot crazier. Paris’ schedule will get much easier too. The only thing that could hinder them is their early season loss to Chicago Hunted, but if Chicago loses just one game for the rest of the season this becomes a non factor. This is a serious match with playoff implications for both teams, especially this Paris squad who have never been in the CRL playoffs. This could be the season to do it.

Prediction: Paris Letdown 3–1 Cleveland Misfires

Silver Premade South Power Rankings: Top 5

5. Cleveland Misfires, 3–1 (ZiRK, ZZeusy, Scottii, DoHBee, yung fuego)

(Last Week: #2)

Cleveland Misfires has looked like a real powerhouse all season long. They looked borderline unstoppable and for good reason. Unfortunately for them, they lost their first match of the season to another respectable juggernaut in Manitoba.

None of that is necessarily terrible for Cleveland though. Until Week 4, they hadn’t dropped a single map all season long. They’re still a tough team with plenty of firepower in them. It does beg the question though that if they continue to play other high caliber teams, will their struggles continue? Who knows really. Maybe this loss helps Cleveland more than hurts them. Given the nature of the CRL, it’s not always a terrible thing to get a loss or two for a season so that you can learn from your mistakes as a team much easier. Either way, if there’s one team that I’m certain will be able to bounce back after a tough loss, it’s Cleveland.

Cleveland should have no issue against a struggling Old Guy Chicago squad this week, as they have yet to win a single map all season long. They shouldn’t be too overly optimistic but it could be a good chance for them to learn from some of their mistakes in Week 4.

**NOTE: There are some rumors speculating that Cleveland may forfeit the rest of their matches for the season. There is nothing confirmed as of yet by any of the admins. If Cleveland does FF their match this week they will no longer be ranked going forward this season.

4. Paris Letdown, 3–1 (giantswjw, Undead, Batman, ExportCRE, Red)

(Last Week: #5)

Paris was widely expected to win their match against Seattle Sloths in Week 4. They did exactly that, putting out a dominant performance in order to put their previous loss behind them.

Following their win against Seattle, the road ahead does get a little tougher for Paris. They have shown they can beat some of the best teams in Silver South, no question about it. I am a little curious to see if they are able to consistently win against teams near the top of the standings given their most recent loss. Luckily, we will be able to all watch this week as they will be featured on the Call of Duty Rec League stream, so we should know a bit more about them after this week.

Paris’ match this week against Maui Chums is shaping up to be a real toss up. It seems like either squad can pull out the victory on this one. However, if Paris manages to pull off a victory here that should be an encouraging sign for them moving forward.

3. Sasky Shotgunners, 3–1 (PalmShow, RTFCoD, Ibra, Remarkz, Lovell, iN3RTiA)

(Last Week: #4)

Oh Sasky, what an interesting team. Every match they’ve won they’ve swept with ease. Even after suffering a tough loss to a highly ranked Manitoba team, they’re still making rounds and dominating whenever they can.

I saw their match last week against Florida Muted Tears as a test game for them. I thought that if they were able to secure a win it would show that things have positively changed for them after losing early in the season. So far, that looks to be exactly the case as they swept their foes. PalmShow is likely feeling confident after that strong win, and Sasky is going to need all the help they need if they want to get their chip in Silver Premade South.

With their toughest game out of the way, Sasky can begin looking forward to the rest of the season and playoffs. They still have some work to do before I say they’re clear cut title contenders, but they certainly aren’t too far off either.

2. Manitoba Mallards, 4–0 (AZLO, Wayzy, itsjbone, VerZity, Huffy, Flash)

(Last Week: #3)

Admittedly, I still didn’t see this coming from Manitoba. It doesn’t matter who they have. They’re still ready to come out firing for whatever it takes, and they are the clear best team in Pool B right now.

It really seems like there’s no amount of roster changes that can be made that would affect Manitoba’s chemistry. With roster lock now gone, this will be Manitoba’s squad going into playoffs. It’s not like they need any changes any way because on paper this is a scary team. AZLO seems like he is ready to grind for that chip, and with the help of his team they could be looking to secure it before he knows it. Manitoba is going to go far, mark my words.

Manitoba can begin to relax a little bit too. They have a string of playing three teams at the bottom of the standings in the next 3 weeks and they should be able to defeat all of them.

  1. Toronto Falters, 4–0 (Kmcplays_YT, TenTen, Minato, oBeY, Breezzus, Aysus, actualsstix)

(Last Week: #1)

That’s all folks! That is every team in the Call of Duty Rec League that has a perfect map percentage: this Toronto squad and Seattle Sloths from Bronze Premade. Gosh, this sounds so corny. I’m hungry now. I’m gonna go heat up a frozen pizza.

Update: My pizza was delicious. Another update: Toronto Falters are still the clear cut title contenders in Silver South. Nothing about them appears flawed. They’ve played just about every single map set perfectly. They’re beaming with as much confidence as they can possibly have right now and they should, because all roads lead to the championship for them. I would honestly be shocked if any team outside of Toronto manages to win in the finals. Assuming they move up a division or two after the season, they’ll still be top tier contenders.

There’s a very decent chance Toronto finishes the season with a perfect map percentage. I doubt that they will be perfect in playoffs because nobody is, but Toronto is as close to perfect of a Silver South team as it gets.

Silver Premade South Match of the Week: Denver Surrender vs Dallas Flat Tires

Denver and Dallas will both be fighting tooth and nail for the final playoff spot in Pool A. A win for either squad all but guarantees they’ll be in barring a collapse. Both teams still have decently difficult schedules left but a win would get a very important tiebreaker in the all important head to head matchup for playoffs. These two teams balance out very well against each other very well, so it’s hard to say if one side has a clear edge or not. With that said I think Denver’s wins so far this season are hard to look past especially when Dallas has lost to the same teams.

Prediction: Denver Surrender 3–2 Dallas Flat Tires

Silver Premade North Power Rankings: Top 5

5. Manitoba Mallards, 3–1 (Cigburn, Groz, Biscuitous, Msa, Hazzy, ohEzmai)

(Last Week: #5)

The good news here is that Manitoba managed to get a victory despite suffering a tough loss the week before. The bad news? They’re not moving anywhere.

After their loss to Seattle, Manitoba came out firing against Old Guy Chicago and have already started to turn things around after a quick sweep. Unfortunately, Silver North remains incredibly stacked and Manitoba will have a steep hill to climb. With that said, they’ve shown they can beat any team in the division which they should be happy about. Manitoba should not be a team to be forgotten though. If you let your guard down, they will have no problem taking a series and making a playoff run.

Manitoba has another tough matchup coming up against Dallas Flat Tires. It could be a chance for them to turn some heads going into playoffs if they are able to pull off a victory.

4. New York Subpar, 3–1 (K1lla_gh0st, Sensei lipes, Kover, dee, Bombz, Morph, LerchTV)

(Last Week: #4)

Well dang, New York. I’m impressed. So far the only loss they’ve suffered has been to the one other team ahead of them in their pool, but aside from that they’ve swept every team they’ve played so far.

New York Subpar will be going into the playoffs with renewed confidence. As long as they continue dominating in the way they have, they’ll have no problem getting far. They certainly already know what needs to be improved on after their loss, so I can only see them getting better. K1lla Ghost is looking to lead his team through Silver North playoffs which will be tough, but they can definitely contend.

New York won’t have any issues finishing the rest of the regular season on a high note. They’re going to be favorites in basically all of their matches from here on out, so I am curious if we do see any new tricks from them especially after this long break.

3. Toronto Falters, 3–0 (Mischiief, JZS, quicksaa, Fez, Priest)

(Last Week: #3)

Toronto Falters has not played their Week 4 match yet. They will play Thursday at 7:30PM against Cleveland Misfires, right before their Week 5 match. Since they have not played yet, their position remains unchanged.

2. Maui Chums, 4–0 (Verdict, HotBoxGod, Senate, Switch, Eminence, Rogue)

(Last Week: #2)

Maui Chums remains the team with the best map percentage in Silver Premade North after a strong win against LAG. Unfortunately, their map percentage is no longer 100%.

I’ve mentioned previously that Maui Chums has dominated all season long sweeping every team they’ve played, with the exception of this week where they’ve dropped their first map. I think there’s plenty of positives you can take in that situation. For example, as a team you know specifically what map could be used as a perceived weakness and how it could be used to turn things around. In any case, they still won and they’re the clear best team in Pool B, no doubt about it.

That’s not to say Maui can start relaxing immediately. They still have some work to do if they want to finish out the rest of the season with a perfect 7–0 record. With another undefeated team that still needs to play them, it should make for an interesting next few weeks for them.

  1. Dallas Flat Tires, 3–0 (CRAZYCAREBEAR, Its moja, T_Dub, Coco, Anti, Sam)

(Last Week: #1)

Remember last week when I said that I would start taking map percentages into consideration more whenever I made these power rankings? I stand by that assertion even with Dallas Flat Tires having a much lower map percentage than Maui Chums.

So why Dallas over Maui again if that’s the case? My case for Dallas has always been while their first two matches of the season were incredibly close, they’ve shown that they’re able to win in clutch situations where it matters the most. In their most recent two games, they’ve came out and dominated Old Guy Chicago and Paris Letdown, so their early season victories are not tainted by any stretch of the imagination. New York Subpar has only lost one game all season long and it was to this Dallas Flat Tires team that took them all the way to a game 5 before ultimately prevailing. Dallas knows how and when to show up when it matters. They’re currently my favorites in the Silver Premade North division.

Alright, well, let’s see how they perform against Manitoba. Manitoba is obviously a very strong squad as well and could do a number on Dallas, but I think Dallas’ ability to get things done late in a series will be what ultimately puts them over the top.

Silver Premade North Match of the Week: LAG vs Chicago Hunted

This is not really a must win game for either team, especially for Chicago. But if LAG manages to snag this one away from Chicago, playoffs will begin to look a lot more promising. LAG is currently behind on the wins total and could use a head to head tiebreaker to make things a little bit more interesting in their favor. Chicago on the other hand would be all but guaranteed a spot this week should they manage to pull through. LAG might be playing with a bit more passion this week which could tighten things up, but I think Chicago’s gunnies are just a little too hot for them.

Prediction: Chicago Hunted 3–1 LAG

Gold Premade Power Rankings: Top 5

5. Sasky Shotgunners, 3–1 (ZiigZAG5, BK lilevil, beans, Synergy, Jmoods, Peppers)

(Last Week: #5)

Sasky had the luxury of ending their weird streak last week of either sweeping every team they’ve played or had been swept themselves. They didn’t have much issue though.

Their match last week was the first time Sasky had been taken past a Game 3 and while they ultimately prevailed, getting that extra map in could probably help them in the long run. It was definitely an interesting case, but now they can start looking forward to the rest of the season. Currently, Sasky sits at 3rd in their pool with an important tiebreaker against Toronto which they grabbed in Week 2. The competition is stacked in Gold this season but Sasky shouldn’t be forgotten about.

If my calculations are correct, a win against Atlanta Dazed this week will secure their spot into the playoffs. Seeding is to be determined for them, but a lock is a lock nonetheless. I wouldn’t really call it a Cinderella story if they get far, but they’re currently a big pair of underdogs.

4. New York Subpar, 3–0 (InstincT, Remote, VenGranite, Boomer2526, LeeRoy, MiLLz)

(Last Week: #4)

New York Subpar has yet to play their Week 4 matchup which they will play Wednesday at 10:30PM. Their ranking will not be affected since they have not played yet.

3. Seattle Sloths, 3–1 (RatMario, Spyde, Frenzy, tauf, Muffin)

(Last Week: Unranked)

This Seattle Sloths squad has started to turn things around after a rough start to the season. An impressive win against a solid Manitoba squad only cements that.

As soon at RatMario joined this team it was immediately apparent things were going to change. Two straight sweeps against very solid opponents just puts the icing on the cake. Now, Seattle has gone from fringe playoff spot to legitimate contender after just a few changes. In any case I am sure they are ready for the challenges that lay ahead. The rest of their schedule is no walk in the park, but I am sure RatMario and co have plenty of confident in order to get it done.

If they want to reach the top of the standings and get a higher seed for playoffs they can still do so, but a lot needs to fall in their favor in order for that to happen. If they can win this week against Old Guy Chicago they would at least be on the right path for that.

2. LA Dweebs, 4–0 (Gonzo, Reckless, Monster, Oz, Burghh, Horus)

(Last Week: #2)

Oh man, LA Dweebs is looking good. They’re looking like world beaters at the moment. With the highest map percentage in Gold Premade there’s plenty of reason to believe why they’re title contenders.

It’s a shame we haven’t been able to see these guys play yet on stream, because it seems like they have everything going right for them. Someone told me not too long ago how balanced of a roster LA Dweebs is on paper and in the game. They didn’t get to the top of Pool A by luck, and honestly I don’t see them going down any time soon. Will they make it all the way to the finals? I don’t see how they don’t make it honestly.

LA Dweebs shouldn’t have too much of a problem finishing the season undefeated. Their games do get progressively easier, but as I’ve said multiple times before it seems like anything can happen in Gold Premade with how stacked things look. Let’s just wait and see before I make any bold predictions.

  1. Paris Letdown, 3–0 (Sheharm, Levitatinq, Aviddity, AyJay, iBlades, Bunz)

(Last Week: #1)

Paris Letdown has yet to play their Week 4 matchup which they will play Wednesday at 10:30PM. Their ranking will not be affected since they have not played yet.

Gold Premade Match of the Week: Florida Muted Tears vs New York Subpar

Florida Muted Tears really needs to win this week to increase their playoff chances here. Unfortunately they’ll have to play an undefeated New York Subpar team who will have already played the previous day. New York is actually the underdog in their first game but not by much. If they do lose then they’ll be ready for some vengeance against Florida. But Florida knows how much this match is important to their playoff chances. They’ll definitely be playing with renewed determination and I think they could surprise some people. This will be my first upset pick this week.

Prediction: Florida Muted Tears 3–2 New York Subpar

Platinum Premade Power Rankings: Top 5

5. Manitoba Mallards, 2–1 (boots, Sampi, bendy, torres, MoT, socks)

(Last Week: #5)

Manitoba has not played their Week 4 match yet with Cleveland. They will likely be playing some time this week. As a result there position remains the same.

4. Chicago Hunted, 3–1 (hasbulla, InsiteOMG, Dropz, Hunt, WholeTroll, Will)

(Last Week: #4)

Chicago has continued making rounds in Platinum Premade so far this season. Winning against Maui Chums was just the explanation point but they aren’t looking to stop at any point.

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that Chicago seems like one of the better SND teams in the league just with how quick they play and how fast they move. A lot of people have been talking about Insite as a potential league MVP, but even if he struggles the rest of his team is there to quietly pick things up. Chicago may only be #4 on my rankings here, but in all honestly with how Platinum has been looking this season, one slip up from another team could have them finish first or second.

Their next match against Sasky won’t be anything to frown about though. Both teams will be very evenly matched which makes me thing it will just come down to better gunnies and comms. Chicago definitely has a shot though.

3. Sasky Shotgunners, 3–1 (Coswi, Neerah, Fakezi, WhiteFang, Rayy, StudManny, Penumbra)

(Last Week: Unranked)

Sasky was left a bit under the radar for most of the early season, not because they weren’t good of course, but with how stacked Platinum was looking week after week it only made sense. But now, they’re in the top 5 and they’re looking good.

Their most recent win came at the hands of Maui Chums in a FF, but regardless they’re right where they need to be. Sasky is currently eyeing that top spot in Pool B which they can get in a couple weeks if they’re able to win out. But even if they don’t get there, Sasky Shotgunners are more than prepared for anything that will come their way in the playoffs. Led by Coswi, I can easily see them making a deep playoff run.

Sasky has a stretch of two very tough games coming up against Chicago Hunted and Denver Surrender, both ranked teams. Even if they just manage to win one out of those two, that would be enough to send a message that the league can’t forget about Sasky.

2. Denver Surrender, 4–0 (snoop, Waly, Dak, Two 357 Magnumz, Zenny, Seanduh, Strider)

(Last Week: #2)

Denver can relax for a while. Unfortunately we won’t be able to see them play for at least another week as their upcoming match this week they will likely win due to a FF.

Actually now that I think about it, I don’t think they will have played a match in over a month. I’m sure they’re hungry to play, and when they do I hope they’re ready. I can’t really add much else about them until they play though. Their next match won’t be until January 13th against Sasky Shotgunners.

  1. Atlanta Dazed, 4–0 (Gier, EkajC, KNlME, outages, Qoi)

(Last Week: #1)

Every week I think to myself “okay, this is the week where Atlanta Dazed may struggle a little bit even if they pull away at the end.” That just never happens though. Atlanta Dazed is the best team in the Call of Duty Rec League.

By the way I’m kidding about that quote obviously. I don’t have any doubts about them at all. Atlanta has the best map percentage in their entire division, much further ahead than second place in their pool, but they could easily be at 100% right now. Having the most stacked roster in the CRL does that for you. It’s hard to say exactly if Atlanta needs to improve on anything because nothing comes to mind with this team. Maybe if Jake tied his hair back he’d be able to see the screen better, but that’s all I can think of.

Atlanta is clearly running away with Pool A right now and I don’t see anything to signal that this may change. Sydney Dingoes should give them a little bit of a fight, but even so with how Atlanta has been all season long, I doubt they will have an issue.
